Wood firing is the process of hand feeding wood into a specialized hand-built kiln to temperatures between 2,250 and 2,500 degrees. The temperature and length of the firing depends on the kiln and the artists' preferences. A wood kiln needs tending to 24/7 - day and night. About 2-10 days hand stoking and tending to the kiln and a remaining 2-7 days for cooling and unloading. This is a process that can only be done with a good team of passionate and dedicated ceramicists.
